About 100 Allbury customers are currently abroad

The Allbury Travel Group - which traded as Libra Holidays, Argo Holidays and JetLife - ceased trading at midnight.

About 100 customers were currently abroad and some 4,000 people had forward bookings, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said.

The firm offered air package holidays and flights out of Gatwick, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Leeds Bradford airports to Greece, Cyprus and Egypt.

Laura Tardelli, 35, from Walthamstow, east London, found out her holiday to Egypt had been cancelled when she arrived at Gatwick airport.

I feel totally miffed... There's been no emails, no letters, nothing from them to let us know.

"My friend and I turned up at the check-in desk to be told there was a problem," she said.

"We at first thought it was to do with the weather but the lady explained that the company had gone into administration at midnight.

"I feel totally miffed. The company must have known before midnight that it was going into administration.

"There's been no emails, no letters, nothing from them to let us know.

"There's a recession on, it's Christmas, and we've booked time off work and now we won't be going away."
